Lampblight
A downloadable game for Windows
The lamps have gone out. You haven't. Not yet.
LAMPBLIGHT is a small top-down survival arena game in the style of Vampire Survivors. You play a lantern spirit alone in a dark galaxy while wave after wave of blight creatures closes in. You only move. Your weapons fire on their own, so your job is to weave through the swarm, scoop up experience gems, and choose upgrades that turn one small flicker into a screen-filling storm of blades, lightning and fire.
What You Do
- Move. Everything else is automatic.
- Collect gems to level up. Each level-up pauses the game and offers 3 upgrade cards.
- Survive the run. The Gloom Warden comes for you at 3:00 and again at 6:00, and the Blight Heart, the final boss, arrives at 9:00. Kill it to win.
- Win or lose, you keep the coins you picked up. Spend them on permanent upgrades and a new character, then go again.
Features
- Runs of about 10 minutes, with boss fights at 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00.
- Hard mode: win a Normal run to unlock it. Enemies get +40% HP, +15% damage and 30% more numbers, and the bosses get faster and more aggressive.
- Endless mode: unlocks after your first win. Everything plays the same up to the 9:00 boss, but there's no victory after it. Every 2 minutes the night deepens, elites get more common and an elite pack arrives. Your best Endless time is saved.
- 3 characters, each with a starting weapon and a passive:
- Wick (Lantern Keeper): starts with Spark Bolt. The lamp drains 40% slower and refills 30% more.
- Ember (Cinder Heart): starts with Orbit Blades. Tougher and hits harder, and close-range hits set enemies on fire.
- Volt (Static Discharge): starts with Chain Lightning. Fast and fragile. Kills arc to a nearby enemy, but Volt deals 15% less damage to bosses. Unlock Volt for 150 coins.
- 9 weapons with 5 levels each: Spark Bolt, Orbit Blades, Pulse Aura, Ricochet Orb, Chain Lightning, Comet Fall, Moon Glaive, Lantern Mines and Ember Wake. A run holds up to 6 of them.
- 7 weapon evolutions. Max a weapon and own its matching passive to evolve it: Sunlance, Cinder Halo, Storm Crown, Heartbeat Nova, Eclipse Glaive, Lodestar Mines and Wildfire Wake.
- 9 passive items with 5 ranks each: speed, max HP, pickup radius, damage, cooldowns, regeneration, XP, armor, and Glass Mantle for your lamp.
- The lamp meter: your light is a resource. After 2:00 it slowly drains, faster when elites are close or when spitter shots hit you. Gems, chests and some upgrades refill it. Below 30% the screen darkens and you get weaker, and an empty lamp slowly burns your HP.
- 16 goals and unlocks. Beat bosses, survive, evolve weapons, push Endless and rack up kills to earn coins and unlock 2 extra weapons (Lantern Mines and Ember Wake).
- A shop with 9 permanent upgrades, including Lamp Oil and a once-per-run revive.
- 4 enemy types plus meaner elite variants, and hundreds of enemies on screen at once.
- Full controller support, including every menu and the level-up cards. The game switches between keyboard/mouse and gamepad automatically.
- Display modes: Windowed, Fullscreen or Borderless window, plus window size, VSync, Screen Shake and Damage Numbers toggles, and Master/Music/SFX volume.
Controls
- Move: WASD, arrow keys, or left stick / D-pad
- Attack: automatic
- Pick a level-up card: click, 1 / 2 / 3, or arrows/D-pad + Enter / A
- Pause: Esc (or P), or Start on a gamepad
- Fullscreen: F11 or Alt+Enter
Install (Windows)
Download the zip, extract it anywhere, and run Lampblight.exe from the Lampblight folder. Keep the LICENSES folder next to the exe.
The exe isn't code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC". Click "More info", then "Run anyway".
Early Build
This is an early build, and I'm still balancing and adding things. Feedback is very welcome in the comments: what felt too hard or too easy, which builds you found, bugs, anything.
